When US forces withdraw from Afghanistan, Australian journalist Jordan Bryon stays behind to document life under male-dominated Taliban leadership. A new job gives him and his colleagues Teddy and Kiana unprecedented access to a Taliban stronghold in northwest Afghanistan. But if the Taliban knew Jordan was trans, they would probably kill him. These are chaotic times, both for the country and for Jordan. In the midst of hormone therapy, he has to maintain a complicated relationship with Taliban fighters. How can Jordan preserve his own sense of self while protecting his life?
