For Libuše Jarcovjáková, the question of happiness is a question of personal freedom. She has docu-mented her entire past: thousands of analogue photos have been seamlessly strung together to create a black-and-white mosaic of a life of resistance. Fragments of her quest for freedom in repressive Pra-gue after the Soviet invasion of 1968 are juxtaposed with radiant moments of self-expression in the queer underground. Footage of the life she began after escaping to West Berlin is also included. Direc-tor Klára Tasovská uses the photographer’s private archives to weave together an uncensored chronicle of a woman’s search for identity between East and West, allowing the private to become political.
