Film Tips

To fill the gap until our next Festival, here are some great film recommendations for the coming weeks.

ICH CAPITANO

Seydou and Moussa live in Senegal and share a dream: to live in Europe and become famous musicians. Their desire, and the prospect of a better life, is so great that one day they throw all caution overboard and set off for Italy in search of adventure. But their journey is not the one they had imagined. A film about teenagers who are forced to grow up and a story based on true experiences that we should all know.

ICH CAPITANO celebrated its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it was honoured with the Silver Lion for Best Director. The film was also nominated for an Oscar in the „Best International Feature Film“ category.

GREEN BORDER

In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
