On her 98th birthday, a spirited South African Holocaust survivor reveals her amazing life journey to her family. Born in Warsaw in 1921, Ella Blumenthal grew up in a large family with a passion for swimming. But World War II changed everything. From the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, Blumenthal and her niece Roma experienced the unimaginable. Today, Blumenthal lives in Cape Town. She greets each day with optimism and pities those who deny their past. Ella's memories are illustrated by atmospheric, hand-drawn animations.
