Berlin Premiere

Asia and Marek live with their three children on Poland’s border with Belarus. Far from the city, they seek a quiet life among chickens, with vegetable patches and excursions to the forest. But the border fence that runs behind their property puts their home at the centre of European refugee policy: refugees are desperately seeking entry to the EU through their little idyll. Between children’s games and nightly relief efforts, director Lidia Duda creates a space to honestly examine the power of the individual, painting a portrait of a family that integrates activism and solidarity into their everyday lives and comes up against its own limits.

  • Followed by Q&A: Screenings on October 6 and 7 will be followed by a Q&A with camera operator Zuza Zachara-Hassairi and director Lidia Duda. Film ambassador and activist Alli Neumann will be on site on 7 and 12 October.
