Berlin Premiere
‘During the hearing you have to get naked, and afterwards you’re alone,’ says Pascal Onana. He is one of four asylum seekers reconstructing their hearings before the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration. Together with secretariat employees, they are giving insights into a process that otherwise takes place behind closed doors for the first time. The asylum seekers share their reasons for leaving their homelands, including transphobia – and not just with the people in the room. Lisa Gerig brings the audience to the table, thereby raising questions about the Eurocentric perspective on the stories of these interviewees from the Global South and the objectivity of the process itself.
