Aaju was a child when she was sent from Greenland to Denmark. She lost her mother tongue and her Indigenous culture. She later fled to Arctic Canada – and witnessed the colonisation of the Inuit there as well. Today, she is a renowned lawyer working to hold her oppressors to account in both Canada and Denmark. Without ever losing her sense of humour, she wants to prompt the Western actors who have imposed their colonial ways to self-reflect and take personal responsibility. As Aaju strives to establish an Indigenous forum with the European Union, she also embarks on a complex and deeply personal journey to her former homeland. She wants to heal her own wounds, including the unexpected death of her youngest son.
