German Premiere

Asylum-seekers and Ocean Viking sea rescuers meet in the Mediterranean. Director and photographer Jean-Baptiste Bonnet accompanies their journey together for six weeks, showing the crew patiently watching for boats and the ship docking in the harbour of a European city. In between, everyone who wants to share their story steps in front of Bonnet’s calmly observing camera. They talk about their experiences onboard and their escapes from their homelands. The shots are precisely filmed, depicting a timeless space outside the doors of Fortress Europe. The travellers ask themselves questions about a shared future, basic human rights and living together as equals.
