Toothbrushes, soft toys, headphones, playing cards, scissors, buttons – everything contains oil. Oil that comes, for example, from the British North Sea, where there are still several billion litres to be extracted. And while the UN Climate Change Conference is in full swing in Glasgow, the next oil field is already being planned off the Scottish coast. But not everyone sees this as an opportunity. Medical student Mikaela Loach and other activists are asking: How can anyone be thinking about profit in the face of climate catastrophe? Time is running out – with every year that passes and every new oil field permit granted, the real threat of global sea level rise becomes even more inescapable. In desperation, Mikaela makes a radical decision: she takes the British government to court.
