Chris lives at a Berlin S-Bahn station. In another life, he might have become a laboratory technician, he says. Instead, his life is dominated by drug addiction and homelessness. After an overdose lands him in hospital, he finds new strength to turn his life around. Director Lilith Kugler helps Chris to share his story, capturing his journey at eye level and revealing what a supportive neighbourhood can look like. Against the backdrop of impressive images of wintry, gloomy Berlin, it is above all the compassion of the people around him and Chris’ own perseverance that repeatedly bring light into the darkness.
