Roger Cox is a family man, lawyer and nature lover. Until 2006, he considered climate change to be an acceptable evil. But then a film shakes him up so much that he decides to fight the impending catastrophe with legal means. He finds allies, takes the Dutch government and the oil and gas company Shell to court - and wins. The company, which has subsidiaries all over the world, is now obliged to reduce its CO2 emissions by 45 percent by 2030. When the judge announced the verdict, cheers erupted on the streets and could be heard in the courtroom. This first ruling of its kind encourages climate activists around the world to take legal action against climate-damaging companies and inactive governments. Will the ruling increase the pressure on corporations and contribute to the energy transition?
