A country is turning its inhabitants into prisoners. Anyone who tries to leave North Korea risks imprisonment, torture and even execution. At the same time, they are exposed to potential exploitation by unscrupulous traffickers. Nevertheless, a family of five with two young children dares to make the dangerous journey. With the Demilitarised Zone between North and South Korea littered with landmines, they must flee across the Yalu River and the hostile mountains of China. When South Korean pastor Seungeun Kim learns of the family’s fate, he activates his underground network. Despite broken bones and criminal records in several countries, Pastor Kim is determined to help the family escape one of the world’s most repressive regimes.
