Lynn, Shammy, Hussein und Philip müssen in ihrer Heimat Uganda um ihr Leben fürchten – denn sie sind queer. Geistliche rufen dazu auf, sie im Namen Gottes oder Allahs zu töten, und selbst vor der eigenen Familie sind sie nicht immer sicher. Ihre letzte Hoffnung ist es, alles hinter sich zu lassen und ein langes und schmerzhaftes Exil zu erleben: Drei von ihnen gelingt die Flucht in die Schweiz. Doch hier erwarten sie neue Hürden und Ausgrenzung. Wie überlebt die Transfrau Shammy, die in Uganda geblieben ist? Und wie geht es den Familien der Flüchtlinge zu Hause?
